Welcome to the 12th Annual Newtown Turkey Trot to benefit the C. H. Booth Library. Our event offers the opportunity to kick off your Thanksgiving Day celebrations by participating in a 5K run / walk or 2.5K (1.6 miles) fitness walk. This community event, which has annually attracted over 1,000 participants in recent years, will start and finish from Newtown Middle School, following the routes introduced in 2019.
The Newtown Turkey Trot provides essential funds to maintain the library and provide programming initiatives. Funds raised from your participation will support the C.H. Booth Library’s mission to promote the joy of lifelong learning, stimulate curiosity, support the exchange of ideas, and provide a welcoming gathering place.
The Turkey Trot has grown over the years to become a popular holiday tradition for our community. It presents an opportunity for family and friends to share a common experience while supporting a vital community resource. Your support and involvement with this year’s event sends a message that the library matters to our community.
The Newtown 5K Turkey Trot Road Race and Fun Walk is an annual benefit for the C.H. Booth Library. Held in the scenic and historic center of Newtown, Connecticut. The Turkey Trot has become a community tradition and highlight for many families over the Thanksgiving weekend. The course works its way out of town on the Boulevard and loops back past the fire house and shops before circling around Wendover Road and back to the middle school. The result is a course that is mostly flat with a few gentle hills while it loops through local neighborhoods in the center of town. Additionally, the course starts and ends at Newtown Middle School, providing a single point for spectators to support the runners. Walkers will be provided a similar, shorter course that will also begin and end at the same location.
